When an established name takes up crowdfunding, normally the domain of emerging talent to expand their business, you take notice. The designer in question is multi award winning designer Terence Woodgate.

Motivated by the successful launch of his new LED lighting company Terence Woodgate Lighting Limited the designer is looking to secure an investment of £150,000 in return for 17% equity in the business. With over 25 years’ experience of lighting design, Terence has an excellent understanding of the exciting design and production opportunities that this technology presents.

Woodgate comments, “I launched my lighting company because I believed in the huge potential of LED technology, particularly with the increasing digitalisation of our homes, and I saw an opportunity to marry design and technology. The success we’ve enjoyed to date has backed up this belief and we’re now seeking to use equity crowdfunding to raise investment to fuel our growth. Equity crowdfunding offers an exciting and democratic way for anyone to invest and we’re very excited by this chance to share our plans with a new audience.”

The LED bulb uses 90% less energy than the incandescent bulb, which will be phased out by 2020. So there could not be a better time to explore or invest in this area, particularly with the growing interest in energy consumption and climate change.

You are invited to join the company at the RSA on Thursday 20 November at 6.30pm to learn more about Terence Woodgate Lighting Limited and to discover how they plan to use the investment raised to fuel growth.

Snowdrop by Stone Designs for Innermost

Lighting is important to set the tone of a room, but searching for the right shade can be difficult and time-consuming for design obsessed folk. Innermost’s Snowdrop pendant designed by Stone Designs is a ‘good looking’ find inspired by bulbous plants such as the Snowdrop. The designers referenced slender stems and blossoms to develop the abstract minimalist shade. Stylish and desirable, the ‘Snowdrop’ light has a soft glow that seeps through candy-coloured petals. Choose any one of the punchy colours – plum, orange or green to liven up your home.

Tom Dixon debuts at the Fair for Milan Design Week, showcasing new furniture, lighting and accessories under the theme of ‘CLUB’. The designer took inspiration from historic British members club and created his contemporary version, a modern day home-away-from-home, a plush and cultured haven where pleasure and work collide. Club features a palette of metallic colours, extraordinary lighting and tactile finishes with new functions ranging from cocktail shakers to task lighting.

Tom says : ‘A misspent youth spent in the London warehouse club scene, and a more recent series of experimental interiors designed for the new breed of private clubs are the reasons why we have chosen to reinvigorate the fabled British Members Club into a futuristic social environment.’

The Bell pendant (above) continues Tom’s exploration into the ultra-reflective, a luminous object with a polished mirror surface that takes on the colours and characteristics of its surroundings. Formed from pressed chrome plated steel, the dome is finished with an injection moulded diffuser giving a soft warm light.
