Canova Hall Opens

We love it when beautiful old buildings are looked after and brought back to life. Launched this August, Canova Hall breathes new air into one of Brixton’s most commemorated buildings; what used to be the beloved worker’s hall of Britain’s first department store Le Bon Marché across the road.

Acqua-7 opens

Collaborative wine bar and event space Acqua-7 has opened in the ever- fashionable Dalston (has it reached peak trend yet- surely?!)

Located at number 7 Balls Pond Road, the concept bar will offer food and drink throughout the day and into the evening, a retail area, as well as an integrated creative platform. Collaborating with Italian architecture studio Arkyna Design, founder Cyrus Cookson, has a vision for a new culture of fine drinking in East London, involving good wine, good food and beautiful surroundings- fine by us!

The bar itself sits within a backdrop of crisp white walls, a bespoke dark sessile oak counter running along the side, mirrored by a floating white retail space, where customers are able to purchase wines, coffee beans and more, to take home with them.

acqua 7

From breakfast through to lunch Acqua7  serves a modern European inspired menu, including pastries, sandwiches and salads served in edible bowls, and a number of plates that will form Acqua7’s signature dishes. Coffee is served in traditional Moka pots, with the pots industrial design creating an authentic Italian coffee. By night the menu will progress in to charcuterie, salads and cheeses.

Saturday Job: Make banana cake with confit pineapple and Chantilly cream

At Clerkenwell Design Week 2014 bulthaup collaborated with Miele to bring ‘Steam,’ the calorie-neutral pop-up restaurant at bulthaup’s Clerkenwell showroom.

Design loving diners were treated to a delicious five-course meal prepared by Frederick Forster, Head Chef of The Boundary restaurant in Shoreditch. This delicious recipe, the unanimous winner on the table, is on the top of the list to make for the bank holiday weekend. Why not try this light dessert at home, treat yourself now you have a bit more time on your hands? A quick tip, feel free to increase the size of the portion, as it goes without saying, you will be left wanting for more.

The Dine Table with a built-in ice bucket by Miguel Mestre

Chill drinks while you eat with The Dine Table by Miguel Mestre. We love the marine plywood table featuring the built-in ice bucket at the centre of the white lacquered top. Perfect for use at home, in a restaurant, a hotel or any other type of commercial establishment to create an impressive dining experience. Available online at madeiguincho.

The Merchants Tavern by VG&P

Nestled in the heart of Shoreditch is the new restaurant the Merchants Tavern designed by Very Good & Proper. Ed Carpenter and the team suggested a private club versus modern country. Black leather semi circular seating nods to the 80’s and reiterates the curves of their MT Club Chair. Exposed bricks, log burners and wood paneled areas add atmosphere.
