Preview: Clerkenwell Design Week 2015

One of the biggest highlights of the design calendar Clerkenwell Design Week returns 19-21 May for the sixth edition showcasing pioneering installations, exclusive product launches and insights into contemporary design.

Set amid the historic area of Clerkenwell, the three-day annual festival features prominent design showrooms based in the locality, alongside four exhibitions –The Design Factory, Platform, Detail and Additions.

William Knight, Show Director says, “Clerkenwell Design Week is a true celebration of this exceptional and dynamic part of London. Our distinctive model of combining the commercial focus of the showrooms and exhibitions with the chance to match materials, creativity and use of urban public space makes the festival accessible and hugely popular. 2015 will see continued growth for one of the UK’s most exciting design events.”

The Design Factory: Based at The Farmiloe Building, will play host to some of the best contemporary furniture, lighting and product design brands from the UK and around the world.

Diary: Design Shanghai 2015


Contemporary Hall: neri&hu

Next month Design Shanghai will showcase top brands from the East and West across the Collectible Design, Classic Design and Contemporary Design halls.  Designers such as Lee Broom, Jaime Hayon in association with Fritz Hansen, Vitra, Wrong for HAY, Moroso André Fu, Foscarini, Arik Levy, Bally, DomusTiandi and Swarovski will be joining exciting Chinese designers at the event.

ATELIER: The New Craftsmen


The New Craftsmen open the Atelier showcase featuring 4 makers in action who will recreate their workspaces in store. Makers Laura CarlinStuart CareyCatarina Riccabona & Lola Lely will have 1 to 2 weeks each to transform the space into their own workshop, filling it with the tools and objects that enable them to create.

Having curated their own ‘Atelier’ space, the time will be used to complete a newly conceived range of products which customers will have the chance to purchase.

Illustrator Laura Carlin will feature first decorating her new ceramic work alongside the ‘Delft’ inspired tiles.
