Scraplights by Graypants

The intriguingly named design studio, Graypants, has launched the equally intriguing Scraplights (available from Nest).

The recycled shades are created using locally salvaged cardboard and each light is cut using a laser cutter before being assembled by hand. This process means that every one is unique and you can literally smell the making process as the laser cutter leaves a slightly smoky, burnt smell lingering on the lamps.

The designs combine cutting edge technology  with a highly satisfying craft element. Differences in the cardboard salvaged for the project further enhance the individuality of the pieces and  result in each lamp filtering the light slightly differently.
